MUSEION-When Now is Minimal. The Unknown Side of the Sammlung Goetz

Wang guangle is present!

23/11/13 – 12/10/14

Munich’s Sammlung Goetz is one of the world’s most important private collections of contemporary art. The exhibition highlights how various generations of artists have explored the notion of minimalism, developing their ideas in the vast scope of contemporary art.

Alongside visions that have strongly influenced the artistic take on minimalism since the 1960s, the exhibition presents a young generation of artists who, with a light touch and a liberated, playful and at times irreverent approach, engage with the ideas of the “forefathers”, creating their own personal styles. Most of the works are being presented to the public for the very first time. The wide variety of media featured, from works on paper to paintings, sculpture, wall-mounted installations and light art, reveals how this artistic current transcends limits of genre and generation.

A cooperation between Museion Bolzano, Sammlung Goetz and Neues Museum. Staatliches Museum für Kunst und Design in Nürnberg

Curated by Karsten Löckemann, Angelika Nollert, Letizia Ragaglia.

Artists: John Armleder, Martin Boyce, Daniel Buren, Alan Charlton, Ron Cooper, Fischli & Weiss, Peter Fischli, David Weiss, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Wade Guyton, Peter Halley; Imi Knoebel; Sarah Morris; Blinky Palermo, Anselm Reyle, Gerwald Rockenschaub, Peter Roehr, Ulrich Rückriem, Reiner Ruthenbeck, Michael Sailstorfer, Karin Sander, Fred Sandback, Haim Steinbach, Katja Strunz, Wolfgang Tillmans, Rosemarie Trockel, Andrea Zittel.
